Perfect
Well, as perfect as your average well-written novel gets. "Mr. Perfect", by Linda Howard. A contemporary romance/murder mystery with believable, fun characters and an interesting plot: who'd'a thunk it? Do other people cast characters in their mind's cinema from the pool of well-known actors? This one starred Adam Baldwin (need a hunky, smart alec cop?) and Julianne Moore (she can SO do tough/spunky/gorgeous). This is a novel where actions have consequences...just like real life! If you punch somebody you will hurt your hand. If somebody roughs you up you will be stiff and sore the next day. If you are going to have sex and don't want to reproduce you'd better deal with birth control. I wish more authors had the gift of verisimilitude, because I can't care about the characters if they and their world seem phony.
